Features and Benefits

Time Savings from Reduced Documentation
When a patient uses Medical Relevance to enter his own medical history, the documentation is completed for the subjective note before the exam begins. About 8 minutes of a 15 minute medical examination is used taking the history. Having the history completed before the encounter can save up to half the history-gathering time, or 4 minutes per encounter. If a physician sees 25 patients a day, the resulting time saved is 100 minutes per day - more than an hour and a half saved per day!

Increased Income from Productivity Improvement
Saving 100 minutes per day (see above) can be about 6 additional appointments. At 4 days worked per week this would be 24 visits per week, or about 100 extra visits per month. At $50 per visit, the net increase would be $5000 per month per physician.

Savings on Transcription Costs
Dictation costs per physician are estimated at over $1000 per physician per month. Medical Relevance medical histories can eliminate about 60% of dictation, because the histories are complete and printed for formal documentation. The savings would be about $600 per month.

Supports Appropriate Coding
It has been estimated that under-coding patient visits costs about $10 per visit. Recovering this lost revenue would result in $250 per physician per day, or $1000 per 4 day week, which is $4000 per month.

Minimal Workflow Changes
Only two changes have to be made in the daily workflow process: (1) the office receptionist has to provide each patient selected to do a Medical Relevance medical history with the physician’s access code and website address, www.visitnote.com when making an appointment reservation, and (2) an office person has to receive the fax or email when it arrives in the office, identify the patient, and file the history in the patients record.

No Hardware to Purchase
Because the system is totally Internet based, and uses existing equipment located in the physician’s office (office fax and/or email) there is no equipment to purchase and no time and cost involved in maintaining any equipment for any length of time.

Available in English and Spanish
The Medical Relevance medical histories can be conducted in either English or Spanish.  If a physician has limited knowledge of Spanish, but has many Spanish-speaking patients, the patients can use their visitnote.com website and simply ask to have the questions provided in Spanish.  The report, however, will be sent to the physician in English.

Updated Medical Histories
The medical history engine is updated continuously with new questionnaires taking into account currently available medical information over a comprehensive review of symptoms.

Empowered Patients
Last but not least, physicians can offer patients the ability to take ownership in their health. By offering and guiding patients to the Medical Relevance medical histories, physicians can help patients help physicians, and patients will be happy to do it. For example, patients who are recalcitrant or have difficulty expressing their thoughts in an examination room can take their histories in the comfort of their own home and with plenty of time and careful thought for each question. This allows patients to provide the physician with a correctly detailed medical history resulting in an encounter that benefits both the physician and patient.
